Freight Damage Report & Claims

Report freight damage and begin the claims process.

Although ItemsRack takes extensive precautions when packaging and shipping freight, damage can occasionally occur during transit. This page explains how to protect your claim eligibility and submit the documentation needed for review.

Damage Must Be Reported Quickly

Visible damage should be noted on the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading before signing. Concealed damage should be reported immediately after discovery. Failure to report damage within required timelines may result in a denied claim by the freight carrier or insurance provider.

Claim Eligibility Checklist

Before submitting a claim, confirm the following have been completed.

Freight Damage Policy

  1. Inspect the shipment carefully for visible damage before signing the freight bill or delivery receipt.
  2. Any damage must be clearly noted on the freight bill to be eligible for insurance compensation.
  3. Do not accept the freight shipment if it arrives damaged.

Before Signing: Your signature does confirm that the shipment was received in acceptable condition unless damage is noted on the freight bill.

  • Timely reporting is required within carrier deadlines
  • Damage must be clearly noted on the freight bill or delivery receipt when visible at delivery
  • Documentation including photos and receipts is required
  • Original packaging must be retained until the claim is resolved
Visible damage must be documented immediately and clearly noted on the delivery receipt, freight bill, or Bill of Lading before signing. Do not accept the freight shipment if it arrives damaged.
Concealed damage is damage that is not visible until the item is unpacked. If concealed damage is discovered, contact us through eBay messages within 24 hours of discovery. Please keep all original packaging and provide clear photos of the item, damage, packaging, pallet or crate, and freight paperwork. Concealed damage claims may be denied by the carrier if damage was not noted at delivery or if packaging is discarded.
  • Improper post-delivery handling
  • Damage reported too late (after carrier deadlines)
  • Missing documentation
  • Damage not related to transportation
Depending on the claim outcome, possible resolutions may include replacement parts, repair assistance, a partial refund, a replacement item, or another resolution determined during review. Outcomes depend on carrier and insurer findings.
